I remember Barry from Mrs. Shea's sixth grade class at Montclair Grammer School. He was very smart, and excelled in all subjects. I remember wishing I could be as smart as Barry Bunow.

Barry was indeed someone special, not just smart but brilliant, talented and a truly good friend. Berry and friends hungout together all through Piedmont (Dawers, Carlton, Delventhal & Agnew) with Simpson & Michels at times too - I don't know how I fit in with all that brain power. For Berry's physics project he built a linear accelerator that shot BB's. He graduated at 15 and went on to Cal in a special summer program for gifted people, and if memory serves me correctly he validated the first 3 years of Math, Chemistry, and Physics went on to graduate from CAL in 3 years with Masters in those 3 subjects. He was also capt of their academic collage bowl team, so well versed in many subjects.
He went on to Harvard where he graduated with a PHD in Bio-Physics, then to Univ Of Paris (France) as a professor where he met his wife. Returning to the states he worked in a super secret US Navy research program in Maryland, VA (with all my clearances it took years to locate him again). When the program canceled he founded his own computer and research company (could not reveal to me what it involved or who he contracted to). When I tried to contact him for the 40th reunion his wife informed me he passed away from a very, very rare form of cancer.
I have often speculated what Bio-physics program he was involved with in the Navy and what his company was involved with and for whom. I'm betting his death was somehow related.
