Bill Poulton

After PHS, Jim Stehr and I went to Cal and graduated in Architecture in 1966. I was immediately commissioned into the Navy Seabees and served in the Philippines and Viet Nam. I went back to school at Stanford (yeah, I turned to the dark side) in Construction Management, and from there into home building for 20 years. I now do property inspections and construction defect consulting, but not for too much longer. I retired in 2011. After designing and building a beautiful home in 1990 that our family loved, we moved, as empty nesters, to downtown Sacramento into an historic craftsman home that I will be restoring for the next 27 years. (Let's see-- 70 + 27 = well, if I haven't finished by then I guess we have to let it go.) We also have a tiny cabin at Homewood Tahoe that also needs a lot of work. We love to kayak, sail, ski, hike and mostly party with our neighbors in the summers.
I thought things were supposed to slow down in these later years, but we seem to be busier than ever before.

Maybe it is best that we only remember through a sepia colored haze of what high school was like. So much of my high school identity was wrapped up in my trumpet, and I haven't tooted a note in 40 years. The band, the orchestra, choir, was a big part of my life at PHS. John Landcaster, Jim Stehr, Frank Wykoff, Foster Anderson and I had a great combo and won the talent contest one year. Great south seas parties in the Kappas. I was an AFS student one summer in Germany---All these things I haven't thought about for a while.
